We offer Golf Lessons for Beginners to Advanced players, using our Driving Range, Golf Studio. We also have the latest Trackman technology to provide real-time data in your lessons.
One to one lessons are a perfect way to develop your knowledge of the golf swing and learn at a pace that suits your learning style.
Your first appraisal session will highlight areas of your swing that need attention and from this initial session a coaching plan can be agreed.
Remember ‘practice makes permanent’ so every session on your own is an opportunity to ingrain the new positions to make the necessary changes.
Some golfers by default will need ‘coaching’ on a weekly basis, while others can work alone, but be assured that a session with one of our coaches will highlight your personal swing faults pertinent to you, ensuring the pathway to improvement is a swift one!

Your first golf lesson is an exciting first step into the sport. A beginner’s lesson at Leam Valley Golf Centre is designed to be welcoming and non-intimidating. The focus will be on the fundamental building blocks of the golf swing: the correct grip, stance, and posture. Your coach will guide you through these basics, ensuring you build a solid foundation from the start. You’ll likely hit a few practice shots, learning how to make consistent contact with the ball. The goal is not perfection, but rather to get comfortable with the club and the motion. The coach will also cover basic rules and etiquette, helping you feel confident on the course. You’ll leave your first lesson with a clear understanding of what to practice and a roadmap for your future improvement.
No, you do not need to bring your own golf clubs for your first few lessons. Leam Valley Golf Centre does have some clubs for you to use during your session. This is particularly helpful for beginners who are just starting out and may not have their own equipment yet. It allows you to try the sport without the initial investment in clubs. The coaches can also advise you on the type of equipment that would be best suited for your game if you decide to purchase your own later. Once you have your own set, your coach can use tools like Trackman to analyse how your personal clubs are performing and even recommend custom-fitting if it would benefit your game.
Leam Valley offers both group and one-on-one lessons to suit different learning styles and budgets. One-on-one lessons provide a fully personalised experience, where the coach can focus exclusively on your specific needs, goals, and swing mechanics. This allows for rapid, targeted improvement and a lesson plan that is tailored just for you. Group lessons, on the other hand, offer a more social and often more affordable way to learn. They are excellent for beginners who want to learn alongside others at a similar skill level. While the instruction is less individualised, group lessons provide a supportive environment and the opportunity to learn from your peers’ successes and challenges. Both formats are highly effective, and the best choice depends on your personal preference.
The ideal frequency of golf lessons varies greatly depending on your personal goals and commitment. For beginners, taking a lesson once a week is a great way to build a solid foundation and ensure you are developing good habits from the start. This consistent feedback helps prevent the formation of bad habits. For more experienced players working on specific aspects of their game, a lesson every two to three weeks may be more beneficial, giving you time to practice what you’ve learned and ingrain the changes before your next session. The key is to find a rhythm that allows you to apply the coach’s feedback in your practice time. Your coach can help you determine the best schedule to match your aspirations and availability.
Even seasoned golfers can benefit immensely from taking lessons. A professional coach can provide a fresh, objective perspective on your game, helping you identify subtle issues that might be holding you back. For experienced players, lessons often focus on advanced techniques like shot shaping, course management, and specialised shots from different lies. Technology like Trackman becomes an invaluable tool, providing precise data on swing path, clubhead speed, and ball flight, allowing for minute adjustments that can lead to significant improvements. Lessons can also help you refine your mental game and develop a structured practice routine. Ultimately, a lesson can help you break through plateaus, lower your handicap, and find more consistency and enjoyment in your game.
